Gardens and Herbs in Urban Space

What an opportunity that I wouldn't want to miss! I was given a task in my organisation to transform the gardening corner. The first thing cane to.my mind was Edible Garden , Therapeutic garden . After much deliberation an consultation with some knowledgeable folks on community gardening, I started to draw out a theme based plan. Edible garden that serves the needs of the community. Garden at unkempt state (Nov 2017) Work-in-progress edible garden...with a plan and goal in mind. (Dec 2017) First 2 planters box are up with okra (ladies fingers) and pea seedlings (22 Dec 2017).

This plot of land consists of many farms worked by family farmers who ' adopt' or rent them .  My daughters and I were greeted by friendly farmers who were harvesting some Traditional Chinese herbs.  A plot like this costs around $400 a month, according to a farmer who got it second hand. On top of that, farmers have to pay their own monthly water and electricity bills.  Some even grow vegetables by hydroponics, creatively making use of PVC pipes. And some ingeniously grow water lettuce in their water tanks! Our experience there was a delightful one, as it is really a beautiful place for tourists and locals alike to visit and learn more about the horticulture scene in Singapore 😀 There are also gardening shops nearby (Hua Hng Trading) to check out for supplies! Directions: Take bus 169 from opposite Yishun MRT station and alight opposite Dieppe Barracks Location:
